It is with great pleasure that we invite you and your families to join us at Temple Ami Shalom for our High Holy Day services.

The energy and tranquility that we have felt here in our services has brought healing and a fresh new beginning to many  and their families.

Having received his ordination in 2010, Rabbi Randall Brown currently serves as the Director of Interreligious Affairs and Intergroup Affairs for the American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) Los Angeles office. In that capacity, he has created the acclaimed “Essencia de Judaismo” (“Essence of Judaism”) program which introduces Judaism, Jewish culture and Israel in Spanish to Latino religious leaders. The goal of the program is to promote collaboration between Latinos and Jews on community projects and change negative stereotypes about Jews. As part of those efforts, Rabbi Brown has also taken three delegations of Pentecostal Hispanic pastors to Israel, and has organized three Sukkot celebrations, the latter of which have been featured in stories in USA Today, the Los Angeles Times and the Los Angeles Daily News. Reflecting his experience in working with a variety of ethnic communities as well as his expertise on Israel, he also serves on the Los Angeles Police and Sheriff’s Departments’ Clergy Council as well as Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Middle East Task Force.

KOL NIDRE

THE KOL NIDRE is a jewish prayer named from its opening words "All vows" (kol nidre), it is based on the declaration of the Talmud:- Moreover; The term Kol Nidrei refers not only to the actual declaration, but is also popularly used as a name for the entire Yom Kippur evening service.

YOM KIPPUR – THE DAY OF ATONEMENT 
Yom Kippur—the Day of Atonement—is considered the most important holiday in the Jewish faith. Falling in the month of Tishrei (September or October in the Gregorian calendar), it marks the culmination of the 10 Days of Awe, a period of introspection and repentance that follows Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. According to tradition, it is on Yom Kippur that God decides each person’s fate, so Jews are encouraged to make amends and ask forgiveness for sins committed during the past year. The holiday is observed with a 25-hour fast and a special religious service. Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah are known as Judaism’s “High Holy Days.”
