Objectives:
Your ideas and your help are welcomed and needed. An agenda will be prepared so that we can be as productive as possible. Your attendance does not obligate you to serve on the Committee however, we are still looking forward to your input. |
There is a quote by an unknown author that says: "“Small minds discuss people. Average minds discuss events. Great minds discuss ideas.” ; (Author unknown) "When you see those ideas flourish you know in your heart that they were inspired by your maker. This is truly inspiration becoming reality. To witness it is one of the many things that strengthens our faith. Temple Ami Shalom has and is witnessing inspiration that becomes a reality" Rabbi Elisheva I. Diaz, VP Membership. |

OUR HISTORY
Temple Ami Shalom is a product of the merger in 1994 of two congregations in the Eastern San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles County. The two congregations, Temple Shalom of West Covina, and Temple Beth Ami were themselves products of a denominational split some 30 years ago of the original Citrus Valley Jewish Community Center, which was formed over 40 years ago. AFFILIATIONS Temple Ami Shalom is a Conservative Synagogue that welcomes all those sincerely wanting to embrace Judaism. We are affiliated with The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and are members in good standing of the Jewish Federation of San Gabriel Valley. WHO CAN ATTEND? All Temple membership, as well as those seeking a Jewish community and lifestyle for themselves and their families are welcome to the services and events we host as a community; however, we do require (as would be reciprocated) a respect for our beliefs and Jewish traditions from all who attend. We do not allow proselytizing and/or the distribution of any pamphlets contrary to what we hold dear to our traditions. |
MEMBERSHIP (Who Can Join)
Temple Ami Shalom is a Jewish Synagogue with an agenda in keeping with Conservative Judaism. We welcome all Jewish and interfaith families. CONVERSION According to the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and their policy; Those in the process of conversion are welcome to come to all services and events. At the time of their completed conversion they are welcomed into the community as members. Of course we encourage all our converts to begin their Jewish life during their classes. We strongly encourage your attendance to Shabbat services and other events as well as your financial support during the conversion process. MEMBERSHIP FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS (NO STRUCTURED DUES) We are excited to introduce our New Year "Fair Share Plan" for all membership. Please call our Temple and ask about the plan tailor-made for you and your family. The Application is available to download from our website or by contacting our office. MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATIONS Your obligations are simple: financially support what you can realistically support, attend what you can realistically attend, and be willing to help us where you can realistically help. We understand that this is a matter between you and your maker and we cannot judge your heart and response to Temple life. Therefore, we choose to allow you to do what only you know you can. We believe that all members will love their place of worship and community and will want to help maintain it. |
